Accommodation:

There are lots of shacks available to stay at Kudle beach compared to OM beach. The tariff ranges from 300 – 500 per shack on twin sharing basis. Shacks comes with basic facilities like double bed, fan, mosquito net and attached toilet, Some of the shacks have common toilet, clean and well maintained. One may have to haggle to get a good deal on the shack. Clubnow stayed at: Gauthami Prasad; Mobile – 9972382302, newly built good shacks with attached toilet for INR 500.00. They are open during Monsoon too! If you are looking for a luxurious stay, then there’s a hotel called Gokarna International with tariff starting at INR 800.00 per day. The place gets really expensive from December 20 to Jan 05 every year with tariff running into Thousands. During one of the new year vacation we paid around INR 20,000.00 for 4 days and 3 nights (3 shacks), a small shack to fit in a double cot, common bathroom and toilet!!

Fact Check:

When you are in Gokarna, haggling is a must, from Auto Rickshaws to shacks. There are plenty of options to stay in the town however it’s nothing different from staying in any other religious town of India. Vacations at Gokarna are best enjoyed by staying in a shack on the beach. Both Kudle and OM beach are 5 kms away from the town and Auto rickshaws are the only mode of transport. Mobile connectivity isn’t good and maybe that’s one of the reasons why shack owners don’t prefer advance booking over the phone, unless you are a regular customer. The closest ATMs are in the town, ensure that you are carrying enough cash with you. Once, after making merry of the evening we realized that we were short on cash, we had to walk for almost 3 kms to the town. Luckily we got an Auto for the remaining distance and for return, however we had to shell out INR 400.00. There are two ways to go to Kudle beach, one is to take a diversion to the right from the road leading to OM beach, after getting dropped here one will have to trek down to the beach from the hill top (10 minutes trek on rocky terrain). This is the way that leads to German Bakery (shack) on the beach. The other way is behind hotel Gokarna International; again one will have to trek on rocky terrain for 10 minutes before hitting the beach. Options for staying aren’t plenty on OM beach and most of them are on the expensive side. Theres Namaste Café as soonas you trek down to the beach, they are always booked. One can trek from Kudle to OM beach in the evening from the German Bakery side, trekking through small jungle and a park, will lead you to the beach. White at OM beach trek to the other extreme end of the beach, theres a narrow mud path going to the top of the hill. Take this path and trek to the cliff overlooking the sea, spend some time there enjoying the beauty of the place. Don’t forget to look at the point from where you started, you will get to see the OM formation of the beach. Clubnow suggests: For staying and food Kudle is the place to be at, OM beach is worth a visit only. Most of the pilgrims visits this beach, expect lots of local crowd in the evening here.
